Manchester Half Marathon 2026

Party time again! On Sunday 4 October the Manchester Half Marathon will be returning to Chorlton.

Something like 32,000 people will take to the streets in October to complete the half-marathon. It’s a great day for Chorlton, as friends and families come to cheer the runners on in huge numbers. You may be too late to put on a running vest(!), but you can certainly make the most of the opportunities the race brings. Open your premises, put on a special offer or just add to the cheer of the day.

This event brings millions into the Greater Manchester Economy. Last October participants raised an amazing £1,858,440.64 for over 421 different charities and over £60,000 annually goes into the Manchester Marathon Community Fund

The traffic management planning with the councils and TfGM for the event is ongoing, but we can confirm that the route will be similar to the 2025 event, starting under the White City Arch, travelling through incredible locations such as Sale, Hulme and Chorlton before finishing on Talbot Road in Old Trafford.

We will publish more details on various road closure timings as soon as we have them.

Fancy volunteering at this year’s event?

The marathon team is recruiting volunteers for a variety of roles, including marshals based right outside your business. Groups from clubs and other organised community-based groups will receive a financial donation, as well as adding to the incredible Mancunian atmosphere.
