Free cyber training

Free cyber training for Chorlton businesses and charities by police-led cyber prevention organisation

A police-backed cyber security organisation is asking Chorlton businesses and charities to make cyber training a key business priority.

CI Dan Giannasi, North West Cyber Resilience Centre

Recent Government statistics have highlighted the growing scale of cyber threats facing small businesses and charities, with more than 612,000 UK businesses and 57,000 charities reporting a cyber breach or attack over the past 12 months. This equates to 43% of all businesses and 28% of all charities in the UK.

CI Dan Giannasi, from the North West Cyber Resilience Centre (NWCRC), said: “We offer free cyber security awareness training to all small and medium businesses, charities and not-for-profit organisations to help build their cyber resilience.

“Regular training and education for all employees or volunteers is absolutely essential and should be seen as important as health and safety regulations or regular fire safety checks to safeguard the organisation.”

Many small or medium businesses do not have their own cyber security teams, so it’s really important for individual employees to have access to cyber training. Just one click onto a phishing email can take down a whole IT system, so awareness and insight training is vital for cyber resilience.

The NWCRC also offers one-to-one crime prevention meetings at no cost for small businesses, charities and not-for-profit organisations across South Manchester, and the whole of the North West. The sessions help organisations understand their risks and provide practical recommendations to improve their security.
