Our literary celebration comes of age, September 9-27 2025.
2025 is Chorlton Book Festival’s 21st birthday! Although now officially all grown-up, the festival still boasts its usual colourful mix of tall tales, weirdness, comedy, fun and cracking good writers.
This year’s literary line-up features an evening with the wonderful poet and novelist Jackie Kay, and Chorlton Bookshop presents comedian and author Robin Ince. Marcia Hutchinson joins us with The Mercy Step, her acclaimed debut novel, while Colette Snowden launches her latest, Celeste. Stephen Murphy will discuss How the Beatles Rocked the World, his book on sixties pop culture and Adam Farrer talks us through various male failures in Broken Biscuits. We also return to a simpler time with Daniel Gray, who reminisces about our Sundays used to be.
The festival also features a spooky ghost-story session; a history walk through the forgotten bits of Chorlton with Andrew Simpson; an exploration of the Northern Arts and Crafts movement with Barry Clark and a sneaky peek inside the fantastic urban artist Len Grant’s forthcoming Chorlton Sketchbook.
And did we mention two free family fun days, craft sessions and story time for pre-schoolers? Or the Great Bookish Bake Off?
Whoever you are and whatever you love to read (or write) we have something for everyone.
Chorlton Book Festival runs from September 9 to 27 2025. Most events are in Chorlton Library and on a pay-what-you-can ticket: any support you can give will go into the events. Places are limited, so booking is strongly advised. Book online – chorltonbookfestival.co.uk – or ask in the library.
